BuddyPress is completely free and open source social network plug in for WordPress and WPMU. Unlike hosted services, BuddyPress allows you to stay in control of your site and create a totally customized, unique experience. Personally I have more than two BuddyPress installed on different sites that am managing.
BuddyPress Email Notification Problem
There has been a rather strange behavior on BuddyPress installations, whereby no email notification will be sent after you have your BuddyPress plug in all setup. And there have been lots of attempts to solve the problem, which happens to work with some people and not in others, including me.
After a long rather aggressive chat with my hosting service support, which happens to be hostmonster.com, good service by the way. We left each other with no solution to the problem, and every part blamed the other.
Solution
Finally I came across this one mail plug in for WordPress and after installation and setup, all my email problems vanished and my BuddyPress was back in action sending all the emails it was commanded to.
Steps
- Download the plugin from here
- OR go to your plugins section on WP admin, and click add new > search for “mail from” and install from there
- Activate the plugin
- Go to WP admin settings > Mail From and update the options as described on the following image.

Make sure you use the email address with your hosting, where your WP is hosted, if you dont have one, then create it. It should be very easy, just go to your hosting cpanel for those with cpanel, if you have some other kind of control panel for your hosting account, then consult your hosting support for how to do that.
Here is the result after you have provided with valid email and domain.
Mail From Options
Try to create a new user from Admin dashboard and wait for an email with username and password. It worked for me, and for my other several customers, hope it will work for you too.
