Hi there, this is just a tip, for those who own IBM Thinkpad T40 T40p T41, as it came to my attention, one weekend I had my thinkpad HDD replaced, and installed a fresh XP pro, then went to ibm website and downloaded all necessary drivers including WLAN and Ethernet.
But to my surprise, wireless did not even blink, then I spend a substantial amount of time searching for a solution with little help, and all the drivers suggested by ibm support did not solve the problem.
SOLUTION.
I went to ibm website and downloaded EVERY SINGLE driver install off lenovo’s site that mentioned anything networking, LAN, wireless etc.
There was about 7-10 files downloaded and the first one I tried worked!
If anyone out there had the same problem, find this file on lenovo site
“1rwc89ww.exe”
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-59438
After you install it it will make a directory D:DRIVERSWINWLLANINT
After it installs run the exe in the new directory.
I didn’t have to do anything at all it just had a bubble pop up saying wireless networks detected!
Hope this helps someone

On top of that, the if you can get Ethernet to work, the you can connect to the internet using Ethernet cable, then install the “Think vintage system update” from here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-66956
Then follow the on-screen steps to install and update, this will find all the needed drivers for your machine.
Good luck.
